AS9100D Machine Shop for Dallas–Fort Worth
An AS9100D-certified precision CNC machine shop just north of the metroplex — aerospace-grade quality discipline, close enough that your quality engineer can drive up for a first-article review and be back the same day.
CERT. NO. 1121211 · IAPMO SCB · ITAR REGISTERED · CAGE 960Q7
Rigid Concepts gives Dallas–Fort Worth programs an AS9100 machine shop they can actually drive to. Our quality management system is certified to AS9100D & ISO 9001:2015 by IAPMO SCB (Certificate No. 1121211), and our shop is in Van Alstyne — about an hour up US-75 from Dallas. Aerospace-grade process control, in-person first-article reviews, and short-haul logistics, all from one supplier.
- Certified: AS9100D & ISO 9001:2015 quality management system, valid through September 24, 2029
- Close: about 45 minutes to Plano, an hour to Dallas, an hour and a half to Fort Worth
- Registered: ITAR registered · SBA-certified SDVOSB & VOSB · CAGE 960Q7
- Capable: 5-axis machining of titanium, Inconel, stainless, and aluminum — prototypes through production
The full breakdown of the standard lives on our AS9100D certification page. This page covers what the credential means for programs based in the metroplex, with the certificate details your supplier file needs further down. For everyday prototype and production work across DFW, see our Dallas CNC machine shop page.
Why a local AS9100D source pays off for DFW programs
Plenty of DFW buyers already source from AS9100 shops — in other states. The certificate travels well; parts, people, and problems don’t. Here’s what changes when the certified shop is a drive away instead of a flight away.
First articles and source inspection, in person
When a PO calls for customer source inspection or a first-article sign-off, your quality engineer can drive up, look at the part and its inspection records, and be back at their desk the same day. Visits are by appointment — call and we’ll set the time around the part coming off the machine.
Fewer days lost in transit
Across the metroplex, parts move by local pickup, delivery, or courier instead of multi-day freight. That shortens the loop on quick-turn prototypes and turns a late engineering change into a recoverable day rather than a missed milestone.
Engineering changes over a table, not a thread
We’re a licensed engineering firm as well as a machine shop. When a tolerance stack fights the process or a feature needs rethinking, our engineers can sit down with yours — and under AS9100D configuration management, only the approved revision reaches the machine.
One supplier for the approval file
Supplier-quality teams want evidence before the first PO: an accredited AS9100D certificate, ITAR registration for controlled data, and often small-business status that counts toward subcontracting goals. We carry all three, so one supplier-approval package covers them. Our AS9100D + SDVOSB page explains how that pairing works for primes.
What AS9100D means on your purchase order
ISO 9001 sets the baseline for a quality system. AS9100D layers the aviation, space, and defense requirements on top — and each one shows up in how your order is handled:
| AS9100D requirement | What it means for your parts |
|---|---|
| Risk & configuration management | Technical and schedule risks are identified up front, and only the approved drawing revision gets cut |
| First-article & process verification | The first production part is proven against the drawing before the run continues; when your PO flows down AS9102, the FAI follows that format |
| Key characteristics | Features you flag as critical get defined controls, not just a final check |
| Counterfeit prevention & traceability | Material comes from controlled sources and stays traceable to its certs, lot by lot |
| External provider control | Anodizers, platers, and other outside processors are controlled suppliers, with your requirements flowed down to them |
| Product safety, FOD & human factors | Our people know which features matter to safety, keep foreign objects out of the product, and work to procedures built to prevent human error |
| Performance monitoring | On-time delivery and quality performance are measured and acted on |
The certification covers our quality management system — how we plan, make, inspect, and document work. It isn’t an approval of any individual part; your drawing and PO requirements still govern acceptance.
DFW cities we serve
We sit just north of the metroplex, so drive times run from minutes to about an hour and a half. The region’s aerospace and defense manufacturing base is spread across the whole map — here’s how it lines up with our shop:
| Area | Drive time & industry base |
|---|---|
| McKinney & Allen | A short drive down US-75. Defense electronics and the Collin County tech belt. |
| Plano & Richardson | About 45 minutes to Plano. Defense electronics, telecom, and instrumentation. |
| Frisco & The Colony | 45 minutes to under an hour. Product development, medical, and industrial OEMs. |
| Dallas | About an hour via US-75. Aerospace suppliers, defense hardware, and energy and industrial OEMs. |
| Arlington & Grand Prairie | About an hour and a half. Rotorcraft and missile-systems production, plus automotive and industrial. |
| Fort Worth | About an hour and a half. Airframe, rotorcraft, and defense-systems programs and their supply chain. |
| Greenville | About an hour. East edge of the metroplex; aircraft modification and systems integration. |
Farther up US-75, Sherman — the seat of Grayson County, our home county — is about twenty minutes north of the shop. For every other city, see the service locations hub or our North Texas overview.
What we machine for DFW aerospace & defense programs
The certificate proves the system is controlled; the parts are what a program actually buys. We concentrate on the work other shops pass on:
- Structural brackets, fittings, and housings with compound-angle features, cut in one 5-axis setup so true position holds across faces
- Titanium, Inconel, stainless, and aluminum — the alloys airframe, hot-section, and defense hardware depend on
- Turned shafts, bushings, spacers, and valve components through CNC turning
- Enclosures, chassis, and thermal hardware for defense electronics
- Prototype quantities through production runs, with anodize, chem film, passivation, and other finishes coordinated to print
For the industry detail, see aerospace machining and defense machining; for FAI, CMM, and traceability documentation, see quality & inspection.
Verify our AS9100D certification
Our certificate was issued by IAPMO SCB (Systems Certification Body), which is accredited by ANAB — the ANSI National Accreditation Board — as a management-systems certification body under ISO/IEC 17021-1. The assessment was conducted per AS9104/1, the aerospace-sector rules for certification audits.

Roughly 45 minutes from Plano, about an hour from Dallas, and about an hour and a half from Fort Worth, depending on traffic. McKinney and Allen are a short drive down US-75. We’re in Van Alstyne (75495), just north of the metroplex.
Yes — by appointment. Customer source inspection and in-person first-article reviews fit naturally into our AS9100D quality system, and from most of the metroplex the visit is an easy round trip in a day. Call (214) 504-1967 or send a note through our contact page to schedule.
The scope of registration is “Engineering Services & CNC Machining, Fabrication and Assembly Services” at our single Van Alstyne site. The certification applies to our quality management system — how we plan, make, inspect, and document work — rather than approving any individual part design.
IAPMO SCB (Systems Certification Body) issued it, and IAPMO SCB is accredited by ANAB, the ANSI National Accreditation Board, to ISO/IEC 17021-1. A copy of the certificate is available on request for your supplier-approval file — contact us and we’ll send it.
Yes. We’re ITAR registered for controlled technical data and SBA-certified as both a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) and a VOSB. For DFW primes, that means an AS9100D-certified supplier whose spend also counts toward SDVOSB subcontracting goals — see AS9100D + SDVOSB for how that works.
